The VAS Singapore Open Volleyball Championship is the most important national volleyball event in Singapore established by the VAS (Volleyball Association of Singapore).
The VAS Singapore Open Volleyball Championship shall be held every year to determine the country’s best volleyball team.
Previously, a similar event, Pesta Sukan Volleyball Championship was held annually.
Since 2010, the council of VAS has decided to rename this event, as well as making the event a more challenging and interesting competition.
The 2014 edition of SG OPEN Volleyball Championship will be held from 05-Jul-2014 to 17-Aug-2014. This year the SG OPEN will feature 27 teams for Men and 20 teams for Women. Each team will play 6 games in the Preliminary Rounds.
MEN
In Round 1, there will be 9 pools of 3 teams. The teams will play a round robin system; based on the VAS Team Ranking, team will be automatically distribute into each pool. If there's any ranked team not participating, the next ranked team will supersede. If there's two or more teams with the same ranking, the teams that participated in more VAS indoor tournaments will be ranked higher. For any new team that is not ranked in VAS Team Ranking system, the team will only able to participate is there's a empty lot available upon the closing date.
In Round 2, there will be 9 pools of 3 teams. The teams will play a round robin system; based on the VAS SG OPEN 2013 results, team will be automatically distribute into each pool. The rest of the teams will be re-distribute into the pools by drawing lot. Teams already meet in Round 1 will not be distribute into the same pool again.
In Round 3, there will be 9 pools of 3 teams. The team will play a round robin system; based on the results of Round 1 and 2, team will be automatically distributed into each pool. Team may meet the same opponent they played before in Round 1 and 2.
WOMEN
In Round 1, there will be 5 pools of 4 teams. The teams will play a round robin system; based on the VAS Team Ranking, team will be automatically distribute into each pool. If there's any ranked team not participating, the next ranked team will supersede. If there's two or more teams with the same ranking, the teams that participated in more VAS indoor tournaments will be ranked higher. For any new team that is not ranked in VAS Team Ranking system, the team will only able to participate is there's a empty lot available upon the closing date.

Following the 3 Rounds (Men) / 2 Rounds (Women), the Top 12/10 respective teams will qualify for the Final Round.

RANKING BY POINTS OBTAINED
The ranking of teams is determined by the number of points obtained, in accordance with the following paragraphs.
POINTS AWARDED PER MATCH TO EACH TEAM
The following points will be awarded per match to each team:
Match forfieted i.e. walkover will be consider losing the match 0-25, 0-25, 0-25.
IN THE CASE OF EQUAL POINTS
The Final round will be played in a single knock out system. Team being knock out depending on the stage will play 5th to 8th placing accordingly.
